Lions Play to Scoreless Draw Against Beavers

CORVALLIS, Calif. — LMU tied Oregon St. 0-0 on Friday in Corvallis, Ore.

JJ Hoover recorded five saves and finished with a shutout. Cameron Bourne led the Lions with two shots, putting one on goal. Sydney Schuler also placed her lone shot on frame.

Cameron Bourne put the Lions' first look on frame in the fourth minute, but Libby Brooker made the save. Oregon St. generated several chances midway through the half, and Hoover answered with saves in the 19th and 21st minutes before the Lions came back with attempts from Taylor Person and Alaina Lee

The Lions kept Oregon St. off the board through sustained late pressure in the first half, with JJ Hoover saving shots in the 36th and 41st minutes as the home side pushed for a breakthrough. Bourne added another shot at 40:33 and both teams went into the half scoreless.

Oregon St. sent three attempts off target between 55:31 and 60:21, and the Lions were caught offside at 69:58 after an Oregon St. corner. Bourne had broke free after Ava Mathieson slid a pass through the center backs. Bourne nicked it past the keeper and into the right side of the net but was ruled offside and confirmed after a lengthy replay review.

The Lions' clearest late attacking stretch came with the match tied 0-0, as they earned corner kicks at 81:50 and 82:36 around Sydney Schuler's saved shot to the top right. Oregon St. answered with five shots after the 85-minute mark, but Hoover saved the only one on frame in that stretch as the Lions saw out the 0-0 final.

Up next, the Lions travel to Stockton, California, to face Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.
