LOS ANGELES - LMU's duo of
Chloe Hooker and
Ines Piret have been named West Coast Conference Pair of the Week after their unbeaten record at the FSU Challenge.
Paired up for the first competition ever, LMU's pair of
Chloe Hooker and
Ines Piret went 4-0 from Court 2 including picking up ranked wins against #5 Florida State in back-to-back days. The pair did not drop a set in four matches, defeating the #5 Seminoles by identical scores of 21-17, 21-18 on both Friday and Saturday. The duo also dominated Southern Miss 21-16, 21-9 to open the FSU Challenge and then battled to defeat Jacksonville, 24-22, 21-15. The two Lions are now 4-0 together on the season having not partnered up together prior to these four duals.
This is the fifth time in the first seven weeks of the season that the conference has recognized a pair from LMU with the weekly award. This is the first recognition of the season for Hooker and the second for Piret who opened the year with a WCC Pair of the Week accolade when paired with
Magdalena Rabitsch.
The Lions will compete this upcoming weekend at the Cal Poly Center of Effort Challenge from Apr. 10-11 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The event will feature nationally-ranked opponents Stanford, TCU, USC, and Cal Poly, who all currently have top-7 rankings in the latest AVCA Poll.
