Hernandez, Clarke and Heidger Earn WCC Women’s Basketball All-Academic Honors

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced its 2025-26 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team on Tuesday, recognizing student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom. Representing Loyola Marymount University, Maya Hernandez was named to the All-Academic Team, while Carly Heidger and Allison Clarke earned All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition.

Hernandez's selection to the conference's primary All-Academic Team places her among the top student-athletes in the WCC who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement while making significant contributions on the court. The junior forward has played a key role in LMU's historic season, helping lead the Lions during one of the most successful campaigns in program history. Her recognition also marks a milestone for the program, as Hernandez becomes the first LMU women's basketball player named to the WCC All-Academic Team since the 2018-19 season. She continues a strong academic tradition for the Lions after earning WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention honors during the 2024-25 season, showcasing her continued excellence both academically and athletically.

Heidger and Clarke were both recognized with honorable mention honors, highlighting the depth of academic achievement within LMU's women's basketball program. Both student-athletes have contributed as key members of the Lions' roster while balancing the rigorous demands of Division I athletics with success in the classroom.

The WCC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, hold at least sophomore academic and athletic standing, and serve as starters or key contributors for their teams while participating in at least 50 percent of their program's contests.

LMU's three honorees underscore the program's continued emphasis on developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically as the Lions continue their strong 2025-26 season.
