LOS ANGELES – LMU's
Trevor Algya has been named West Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for February. This is the first monthly award from the WCC of the season.
In his lone event of February, LMU senior
Trevor Algya won the competitive John Burns Intercollegiate played at the Ocean Course at Hokuala. Algya earned his second career win and added his second top-5 finish of the season to his resume. Algya shot 67-71-74 to place first in the field of 111 golfers, 14 of whom rank 150
th or better in the NCAA. Algya's final round 74 was the best of the day and pushed him into the lead at 8-under for the week. Algya led the tournament with two eagles and tied for second-most birdies with 14. Algya did his best work on Par 5 holes where he led the field with a 3.67 stroke average. Algya's performance also helped LMU win the event as a team, finishing in first place at 10-under for the week.
Algya and the Lions are currently in the Pauma Valley Invitational. The final round of the tournament will tee off on Wednesday.
