SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.  –  LMU men's tennis overcame a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Nevada 4-3 on Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-0 on the season.Â

The Lions picked up the doubles point once again to stake themselves to an early lead, taking victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Alex Padro and
Max Wuelfing cruised to a 6-2 win at the top spot, while

Kuba Hrynkiewicz secured a 6-4 decision at No. 2.Â

Despite falling behind in singles competition, LMU mounted a comeback that Associate Head Coach Alex Moreno called an "unreal comeback."Â

Trailing 3-2, Hrynkiewicz rallied from a set down to even the dual with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Maxime Contet at No. 4 singles.Â

Wuelfing then clinched the match with a dramatic three-set victory over Axel Huysmans at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. After falling behind 3-1 in the third set following a break, Wuelfing won five of the final six games to secure the comeback win.Â

"This team is gritty. That was my first 3-3 clinch and it was fire," Wuelfing said. "Super happy to have pulled it out for the boys today. Let's do it again tomorrow."Â

Padro also contributed to the Lions' rally with a dominant performance at No. 5, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 over Nicolas Recoura.Â

The Lions have yet to drop a doubles point through their first four matches of the season.Â
