Brown Moves to No. 3 on LMU’s All-Time 800m List with Win at Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Senior Ayden Brown delivered a stellar performance Saturday at the 2026 Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, winning the 800 meters in a personal-best of 2:13.30. The mark moves Brown to No. 3 on LMU's all-time list in the event, surpassing multiple former Lions, including program legend Danielle Polerecky (née Shanahan).

"I couldn't be more proud of Ayden," said Head Coach Chloe Curtis. "She has worked hard for this breakthrough."

Brown finished first among eight runners and ultimately claimed top honors overall out of 24 competitors in the event. "She stepped on the track with confidence, committed to her plan, and controlled the race from the gun," said Curtis.

Brown's time represented nearly a two-second improvement off her previous best and was almost ten seconds faster than her third-place finish at the same meet last year, when she competed unattached in a time of 2:22.72.

Brown's progression has been building over time. Following last year's Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, she went on to run 2:15.20 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in April 2025, one of the premier meets on the collegiate calendar.

Saturday's victory and new personal record at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational reflected the competitive drive that has defined Brown's career and further cemented her legacy as one of the most accomplished 800-meter specialists in program history.
