LOS ANGELES - LMU Lions fans will have one final opportunity to see the men's basketball team play ahead of the official start of the 2026-27 season. The Lions will host UC Santa Barbara on Sunday in an afternoon matchup that will serve as the last exhibition for the team before the Nov. 4 season opener. LMU and UC Santa Barbara are familiar foes, having faced five times in Head Coach
Stan Johnson's first seasons leading the program. Last year's game in the Thunderdome was one of the most memorable games of the LMU season, as the Lions won 78-74 in overtime to move to 6-0 to start the 2025-26 campaign.
Myron "MJ" Amey, Jr., scored a game-high 29 points in the win and was eventually named West Coast Conference Player of the Week for his accolades. LMU holds a 3-2 series edge over the Gauchos under Johnson.
LMU's
Zion Sensley played his first two seasons of college basketball as a member of the UC Santa Barbara Basketball team. Sensley played 53 games and averaged 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds over his two seasons with the Gauchos.
