LOS ANGELES – In the final week of the regular season, LMU's pair of
Isabelle Reffel and
Magdalena Rabitsch have been named West Coast Conference Pair of the Week for the second time this season. This is the second time the pair have won the weekly conference award, after previously winning it on March 10 of this year.
Reffel and Rabitsch helped LMU knock off another top-10 opponent, tie the program record with 32 wins, and remain undefeated at home with four wins on the weekend with no sets dropped. The pair opened the week with a thrilling 21-18, 22-20 win to earn the first dual point over #10 Long Beach State. The Lions ended up winning 4-1 over the Beach which is the first time LMU has beaten LBSU by a score other than 3-2. The rest of the weekend, the pair cruised to three more dual points, defeating Cal State Bakersfield 21-9, 21-10 then Utah 21-13, 21-12, and closing out the weekend with a 21-17, 21-12 win over CSUN. After the battle with Long Beach State, the pair only allowed one set to go past 13 points and not one reaching above 17. The efficient scoring gave LMU the first dual point in all four matches played giving the Lions a head start en route to their 10-0 record at home and program record-tying 32 wins.
A pair from LMU won the WCC Pair of the Week in eight of the nine weeks of the regular season.
