LOS ANGELES - LMU's
Maja Kruczek and
Josefine Schaekel have been named West Coast Conference Pair of the Week, the WCC announced on Monday afternoon.
In a weekend that featured exclusively conference matchups, LMU's four pair stood out amongst the rest of the competition.
Maja Kruczek and
Josefine Schaekel posted a perfect 3-0 record from the Fours Court to help the Lions go unbeaten on the weekend. In Friday's game against Saint Mary's, the pair allowed just 23 total points in the win, 21-10, 21-13. On Saturday, the pair came out on top in a battle against last year's WCC Championship Finalists Santa Clara, pulling out a two-set win with scores of 21-19, 21-18. The duo closed out the event with a 21-12, 21-16 win over Pepperdine's fours, improving by three combined points from the identical matchup a week ago where Kruczek and Schaekel won 21-12, 21-16 over the Waves' Alice Jagielska and Sonia Mancuso. LMU's pair has now won eight consecutive matches when paired together.
This is LMU's fourth WCC Pair of the Week honors over the first six weeks of the season and the third unique pair to earn recognition. Previously,
Ines Piret and Madgalena Rabitsch had been selected following the opening week of the season and
Ellie Davis and
Katie McAlister are two-time recipients of the conference's weekly award.
