LOS ANGELES – LMU Beach Volleyball's pair of
Lisa Luini and
Abbey Thorup have been named this week's WCC Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week.
The LMU threes pair defeated the pairs from top-ranked TCU, #2 UCLA, and #6 USC this past weekend at Cal Poly's Center of Effort Challenge. In the opening match against the second-ranked Bruins, Luini and Thorup won a marathon first set 35-33 before earning a dual point with their 35-33, 19-21, 15-13 win. Then, for the second time this season, LMU knocked off the #1 team in the country with a 3-2 win over TCU. Luini and Thorup took the Horned Frogs to three sets with their 21-17, 16-21, 15-8 win to earn the crucial second dual point. In Saturday's championship round, Luini and Thorup won in straight-sets against #6 USC with a 21-18, 21-16 win to earn the dual's opening point against the Trojans.
