LAS VEGAS, Nev. – LMU men's basketball's run in the 2025 CU1 West Coast Conference Championships came to an end on Saturday night, by virtue of a 94-77 loss to Washington State.
The Lions never led after falling behind 12-3 early in the game.
Alex Merkviladze's three was LMU's first field goal after the Lions started the game 1-for-8 from the floor.

Caleb Stone-Carrawell with 13:46 on the first half clock pulled the Lions within six, 14-8. Stone-Carrawell scored 10 points to hit double-figures for the
Despite the deficit growing to as large as 16 in the first half, Myron Amey, Jr. hit a three in the final minute before halftime to cut it down to eight, 47-39. Amey hit all three of his first half three attempts to lead the Lions with 11 points at intermission.
The shooting woes continued for LMU to start the second half as the Lions missed their first six shots from the floor coming back to the court. Wazzu built up a 20 point lead at the 14:26 mark.
In just over four minutes from that point, LMU responded with a 15-3 run of their own to pull back within single digits, trailing 65-57, with over 10 minutes to play.
Jan Vide scored six of his 10 points in the 8-0 portion of that run that forced a WSU timeout.
After falling back down double-digits
Rick Issanza dunked the ball for two of his six points to bring the Lions back within 11 with nine minutes left, but that turned out to be the closest the game would be before Washington State increased it to as high as 19 again.
Jevon Porter had a late three and breakaway dunk to bring his total 13 for the game. Amey finished with 16 and the pair shared team-high rebounding numbers at eight apiece.
After Friday night's historic shooting night, LMU shot 41 percent (24-for-59) on Saturday, while the Cougars hit 52 percent (33-for-63) of their shots.
