Williams 19 Points Not Enough as LMU Falls to Oregon State

LOS ANGELES - LMU battled but came up short against Oregon State, falling 66-49 Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion.

Brandi Williams led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 7-14 from the field and 4-7 from beyond the arc. Naudia Evans added 12 points, dished out eight assists, and grabbed five rebounds, while Maya Hernandez contributed eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The opening quarter was a tight, with LMU shooting 30% from the field and OSU at 43.8%. Williams and Evans carried the Lions' offense early, scoring all of LMU's points in the first period. Williams drilled a three-pointer off an Evans assist in the final seconds, cutting the Beavers' lead to 16-15.

Midway through the second quarter, Carly Heidger's jumper gave the Lions a brief lead. The teams continued trading baskets before heading into halftime tied at 26.

Momentum shifted in the third quarter as LMU struggled offensively, going 3-14 from the field and managing just nine points. Meanwhile, the Beavers capitalized on their opportunities, shooting 50% from the field and 66.7% from three-point range to outscore the Lions 22-9. OSU took a 48-35 lead into the fourth.

LMU showed resilience, cutting the deficit to 10 with a 5-0 run, but OSU remained in control, hitting key shots down the stretch to seal the win.

The Lions look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Santa Clara to face the Broncos.
