QUEEN'S BEACH, Hawaii – LMU beach volleyball continued to make noise in second day of the OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. The #7 Lions opened the day with a 5-0 sweep over the hosts #12 Hawaii and then followed that win with a 3-2 trilling win over #2 TCU. LMU now has wins over both the first and second ranked teams in the polls in consecutive days.

In the dual against the Horned Frogs, LMU lost three of the five opening sets in the dual, only winning on Courts 4 and 5. The Lions then won on fours, lost on ones, and went ahead with a win on fives to take a 2-1 lead while also forcing a pivotal third game in the twos and threes. The clinch happened on threes as Abbey Thorup and Lisa Luini won 18-21, 21-19, 15-11 to earn the dual point.
 
LMU opens the season 4-0 and faces off against two more top teams Saturday to close out the event. The Lions will battle against #3 UCLA and then finish against #11 Arizona State.

In total, the Lions will have played four of the five top-ranked teams in the preseason poll and all six matchups against top-12 opponents.
