EL PASO, TEXAS – LMU men's basketball played two entirely different halves to flip a halftime deficit into a 71-58 win. 
 
After trailing by four at the half, LMU rattled off the first nine points of the second half to take the lead. Back-to-back dunks by Rick Issanza and Jalen Shelley pushed LMU ahead by five less than three minutes into the return to play.
 
After UTEP pulled back within one, the Lions used a second 9-0 run to build a double-digit lead. Myron Amey, Jr. started the run with a three, Jan Vide followed with back-to-back shots, and Rodney Brown, Jr.'s basket forced the home team to use a timeout. 
 
Amey hit his fourth three of the game at the 7:04 mark to push the Lions ahead by 14. Amey led all scorers with 18 points.
 
Brown gave LMU their largest lead of the game after he followed a Shelley three with a jumper with less than three to play. Brown finished with 13 points while Shelley added a complete score line of 10 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
 
The Lions held UTEP to 23.1 percent shooting in the second half and only turned the ball over six times to spark the comeback.
 
Rick Issanza scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds to go with a key block down the stretch.
 
LMU erased a deficit of as large as seven in the first half to earn the win.
 
The Lions return home this Friday night to play Troy at Gersten Pavilion.
