After a competitive stretch, the Pilots held their advantage, shooting 36.8% (7-19) in the first quarter and taking a 16-11 lead into the second.

The Pilots extended their lead in the second quarter, opening with a 12-0 run. Portland shot 43.8% from the field and 60.0% from three-point range, outscoring the Lions 24-12 in the period. Williams closed the half with a three-pointer for LMU, but the Lions trailed 40-23 at halftime.

LMU started the third quarter with a three-pointer from Williams and another from Amelie Sitterud shortly after. However, Portland's hot shooting continued, as the Pilots posted their best shooting quarter, hitting 57.9% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. The Lions made frequent trips to the free-throw line, converting 87.5% (7-8) of their attempts, but they still trailed 64-38 entering the final quarter.

LMU's strongest performance came in the fourth quarter, when they outscored Portland 23-16, shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field. Heidger led the way with eight points in the period, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

The Lions will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 9, when they host the San Diego Toreros at Gersten Pavilion.
