LODI, Calif. - Hayden Washington finished fifth overall in the WCC Cross Country Championships course preview hosted by University of the Pacific on Friday. The Lions finished fifth as a team and fourth among the WCC Participants.
Washington was only 22 seconds off her PR in the first 6k race of the season. She continues to be the top scorer for the Lions in team situations.
The Lions had a block of three straight finishers in the late-20s as well.
Tessa Kline,
Rylee Guinn, and
Ava Boyd finished 28-29-30. This young group will be
Chloe Curtis's cornerstone for the years to come as Kline and Guinn compete in their sophomore seasons while Boyd is in her first season. Kline recorded a personal best with a 23:01.8 showing and looks to continue her early season success as LMU's second finisher in both races.
Emma Ronan, Ruby Tiburcio and Trinity Tingey finished up the scoring for the Lions. Tiburcio shaved over 36 seconds off her previous best 6k time while Ronan bested her previous record by over two minutes.
The Lions will be next competing in the Master's Invitational on Saturday, October 5.
