LOS ANGELES – The No. 11 LMU men's soccer team fell to No. 21 UCLA 2-0 on Thursday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium in Westwood, Calif.
After a turnover in the defensive half, Pomponi was left one-on-one inside the penalty area. Pomponi cut down the space and got a foot to a tough shot to keep the match scoreless.
The Bruins struck twice from free kicks in the first half and those turned out to be the deciders.
The Lions had a couple opportunities in the second half through
Hakeem Morgan. Morgan took a more marauding role in the second half, floating into the wings from central attack. He forced a tough save in the 63
rd minute, and delivered some dangerous crosses from the left side.
The Lions will look to get into the win column in the opener at Sullivan Field on Sunday, August 25, hosting the CSUN Matadors. Tickets are available on LMULions.com and the match will be available on ESPN+.
