GULF SHORES, Ala. – LMU beach volleyball has advanced the quarterfinal round of the 2024 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships. The No. 8 Lions defeated No. 9 Hawaii for the third-consecutive time in the opening round, 3-1.
 
Hawaii took the initial dual point after winning, on Court 2. The Lions quickly evened the dual at 1-1 as Jacinda Ramirez and Anna Pelloia won 21-16, 21-15 on Court 3.
 
LMU took a 2-1 lead at Abbey Thorup and Madi Firnett won in dominating fashion, 21-10, 21-15 as the Five Pairs.
 
The Lions needed one more point to clinch the victory and had dual point on both Court 1 and Court 4. Vilhelmiina Prihti served an ace to win 21-18, 21-11 with her partner Michelle Shaffer just as Cassie Chinn was stepping back to the service line on Court 4.
 
The horn sounded and play concluded with LMU winning, 3-1, and advancing to Saturday's quarterfinal matchup against top-ranked USC. The Lions and Trojans will play at 9:00 AM local time / 7:00 AM Pacific on ESPN2.
