LOS ANGELES – Khadim Diaw notched all four RBIs, Owen Hackman threw seven scoreless innings and the Lions baseball team shutout Portland 4-0 on Friday night at Page Stadium.Â
Â
Diaw, in only his fifth game back from injury, banged a first inning double off the blue monster to plate the first run of the game. Â
Â
He stepped up after a Brett Zimmermann walk and a Sam Biller hit by pitch to launch his third homerun of the season. It was a majestic blast into left-center field that left no doubt and gave the Lions a four run lead in the third. Â
Â
Hackman was lights out in his return to the mound. The Lions have now won three straight Hackman starts and he has pitched phenomenally in those starts. He has thrown 20 innings in his last three, notching 29 strikeouts and allowing only five runs. Â
Â
Tonight, he threw seven scoreless innings, striking out eight batters and not allowing a base hit until the fifth inning. Â
Â
Dating back to 2022, Hackman has now held the Pilots scoreless over 17 straight innings. Â
Â
Ryan Mullan took over in the eighth and threw a pair of scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing only one hit. Â
Â
The Lions and Pilots will face off again on Saturday, April 27, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. (PT).Â
