LOS ANGELES –
Jacinda Ramirez and
Anna Pelloia have been named the West Coast Conference's first Pair of the Week, the WCC announced on Monday.
Fifth-ranked LMU Beach Volleyball opened the 2024 season in one of the country's most competitive tournaments, the OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. Led by Ramirez and Pelloia, the Lions opened the season with a win over #9 Hawaii. The pair won 24-22, 18-21, 15-10 against the hosts. Later in the day Ramirez and Pelloia won in straight sets, 21-19, 21-16, against #7 Stanford. In Friday's competition the pair claimed LMU's only point against defending national champions USC, winning 22-20, 12-21, 16-14, on Court 3. Ramirez and Pelloia continued their winning ways against #2 UCLA in the final match of round-robin play, 21-13, 21-12. They finished 4-1 on the weekend, with the only losses coming in the semifinals in a rematch against USC.
In addition to the WCC Honor, Pelloia was named Best Blocker at the Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic.
LMU is set to make their home debut on Friday and Saturday at the Battle for LA. Admission is free with LMU playing at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM each day.
