Hackman, Three Homers Power Lions Past Roadrunners

LOS ANGELES – Owen Hackman threw seven scoreless innings, the Lions launched three homeruns and LMU defeated Cal State Bakersfield 4-0 on Friday afternoon in San Diego, Calif.

Hackman has now started the season on a 12.1 inning scoreless streak to go along with a pair of victories. He has only allowed four hits on the season and walked one. In Friday's matchup, the senior right-hander struck out four, allowed just a pair of hits and did not allow any walks. He faced the minimum over seven innings of work, inducing two double plays to get eliminate the two hits.

The Lions once again got started early, with Sam Biller doubling with one out in the first inning. Daalen Adderley followed up the double with his first homerun in a Lions uniform. It was a majestic blast over the right-center field fence.

In Biller's second at-bat, the redshirt junior launched his third homerun of the season with a no doubt drive to right field. Biller is one away from reaching his season total from the 2023 season.

The Lions final tally of the afternoon came from the nine hold. Christian Dicochea hit the third homerun of the game for the Lions by crushing a ball to left. It was his first homerun in a Lions uniform as well. He continues to put up strong numbers and play strong defense at second base.

Ryan Baker worked a perfect eighth before turning the ball over to Conner Kershaw. Kershaw got into some trouble before Seamus Barrett took over and slammed the door for his first save of the season.

The Lions will face Utah on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. (PT).
