Honolulu, HI - LMU beach volleyball opened the season ranked fifth in the country and ready to start the season in one of the toughest tournaments outside of the National Championships. The OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic features top-ranked USC, #2 UCLA, #5 LMU, #7 Stanford, and #9 Hawai'i. All five teams will play round-robin style through the first two days, before final pairings will be determined for Saturday's championship bracket play. LMU opened the event by topping the hosts Hawai'i, 4-1, before losing a close match in five to Stanford with the final court going to three and ending at 19-17. Competition continues on Friday with the Lions getting their first opportunities against both USC and UCLA.
