LOS ANGELES—The Lions extended their winning streak to five games on Wednesday night with an 83-43 victory over the Life Pacific Warriors.
Brandi Williams led the charge, dropping a team-high 12 points on 4-9 shooting, five assists and three rebounds. She got off to a hot start, scoring nine points in the first quarter.
Four more Lions hit double digits.
Ali'a Matavao and
Ava Toone both chipped in 10 points, with Matavao grabbing six boards.
Freshmen
Zawadi Ogot and
Allison Clarke each added 10 points; Ogot also had three rebounds and two assists, while Clarke handed out two dimes.
The Lions set the tone early, with Williams knocking down three straight threes to help LMU shoot 40 percent in the opening quarter. They finished the first on a 9-3 run, leading 24-8 heading into the second.
LMU kept rolling in the second quarter, opening with nine unanswered points. Matavao caught fire scoring nine in the period. Although LPU slightly narrowed the scoring margin (16-15), LMU still held a 40-23 advantage at halftime.
The third quarter was more similar, with LMU starting on a 10-0 run to stretch the lead to 27. They shot 53.8 percent in the quarter, with
Naudia Evans leading the way with seven points. Toone closed the period with a three-pointer, and the Lions entered the fourth up big, 64-35.
From there, LMU kept piling it on, leaving no doubt as they cruised to the win.
Up next, the Lions hit the road to take on the San Jose Spartans on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 PM in San Jose, CA.
