Curtis Officially Takes Over Men's Cross Country Program

LOS ANGELES – LMU has named Chloe Curtis to helm the men's cross country and track teams for the 2023-2024 season after the departure of Jason Zarb-Cousin.

"It is a huge honor to take over as interim head coach of the men's program, and lead both the men and women as we reunite. I have great memories of my time at LMU, including practices, meets and long bus rides with both male and female teammates, so it will be fun to bring that family vibe back together," said Curtis.

Curtis has been a major figure in LMU cross-country for a number of years.

She not only competed at a very high level for the Lions after transferring from Washington, where she was a member of the fastest team in LMU history. The Lions finished ninth in the NCAA West Regional and third in the WCC.

She joined the coaching staff in 2018 as a volunteer before transitioning to a graduate assistant and then finally being named the women's cross country coach in 2021, when the programs split from a unified program.

"I have to give props to coach Zarb. He did a tremendous job with the men's program and left the team in a position to succeed. The team captains (Roberto Ruelas, Adam Trafecanty and Daniel Vaca) have stepped up and made this transition as smooth as possible, and the team culture is incredibly strong. We have a lot of work to do, but I have a feeling this is going to be a great season," Curtis mentioned.

After two years with the women, Curtis will take over as the men's coach as well.

With the unification of the coach, she has adjusted the schedule to help streamline the process.

Curtis is up for the challenge and is looking forward to the successes of both programs as she navigates this time.
