ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Anthony Wilson scored the first goal of the season for the Lions as LMU worked a 1-1 draw at Michigan in Ann Arbor on Thursday evening.

LMU enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the first half but were unable to break through until Wilson's opener early in the second half.

The Wolverines equalized in the 66th minute to mark the final tally.

The Lions had the first real chance of the game coming off a set-piece opportunity. Lewis Clutton, making his debut in the Lions uniform, delivered a deep driven cross to the back post that met the head of
Callum Stretch. Stretch's shot was caught by the Wolverines' keeper without issue.

Clutton kept finding chances. In the 23rd minute, coming off a corner kick, Clutton found some space at the top of the box and fired a shot that was blocked by the Wolverines defense.

LMU kept the pressure on by taking shots throughout the first half. Okeefe Cunningham fired off target in the 29
th minute to add another shot to the counter.

Cunningham came back with another attempt in the 36th minute that was right down the chute and saved by the Michigan keeper.

After all was said and done in the first half, the Lions had a shot advantage of six to one.

LMU found the back of the net in the 49th minute through the sophomore winger Wilson. Ryan Kingsford started the chance with a nicely weighted back-heel. Clutton forced a defender to make a decision with the ball that bounded through a second defender's legs right into the path of Wilson. He took one touch and fired a bounding shot that looped over the goalkeeper into the net.

Wilson has now scored in two straight matches dating back to the finale last season.

The Wolverines would answer back in the 66th minute to knot things up.

The back and forth affair would continue until the end of the match. The Lions thought they had a winner in the 90
th minute, but a phantom offsides flag kept the goal off the board.
Nathan Rodrigues found a bouncing ball in the box and punched it into the right side of the net, but was ruled offside by the assistant referee.

The Lions are back in action on Sunday evening against the No. 15 Virginia Cavaliers. The match will begin at 4:00 p.m. (PT) and broadcast by ACC Network+.
