LOS ANGELES - LMU men's crew say good-bye to Julia Gamache, who served as the head coach for four seasons. Gamache has made the decision to step away from coaching and embark on new ventures.
Throughout her four-season tenure at LMU, Gamache made significant strides in expanding the men's roster, leaving a lasting impact on the program. With her relentless efforts, she scouted and recruited talented athletes from various regions across the country, fostering a stronger and more competitive team environment.
In the 2022 Spring season, Gamache coached the Men's Novice 8 to a fifth-place finish in the Grand Final at San Diego Crew Classic and a sixth-place finish in the Grand Final at WIRA's. During the 2023 Spring season Gamache coached the men's pair (2-) to an outstanding fourth-place finish & the men's double (2x) to a remarkable second-place finish at WIRA's.
"I would like to thank Julia for her time at LMU and for sharing her leadership, passion for rowing and positive outlook with the student-athletes at LMU," says LMU director of rowing Allison Foster. "In my one year working with Julia I saw how much she cares about the individual student-athletes she coaches and how the individuals take care of each other. This caring characteristic translated into building a team culture that attracts high quality student-athletes and people to this team. While we are sad to see Julia leave, the team is well set up to continue building on the foundation Julia established. We wish her all the best in her next endeavors."
During Gamache's time at LMU, the men's crew team consistently finished at the top of the men's leader board during LMU Day of Giving. This accomplishment highlights Gamache's ability to inspire the community to rally behind the men's crew program, leaving a lasting legacy of success in fundraising efforts.
