LOS ANGELES – The LMU baseball team dropped game two of the three-game weekend series 8-0 with the BYU Cougars (6-11, 1-1 WCC) on Friday night at Page Stadium.Â
Â
The Lions (8-9, 1-1 WCC) could not get anything going offensively. Despite walking seven times, the Lions failed to put up any runs and left 10 runners on base.Â
Â
Zach Kirby had a tough outing on the mound, allowing five earned runs in his 4.1 innings of work. Despite the short outing, he struck out five. Â
Â
Logan Hurd continued to be a stopper in the Lions bullpen with 2.1 innings of shutout work. The junior from Manhattan Beach has not allowed a run since the opening series against San Jose State and has really ratcheted up his strikeout numbers in his last two appearances. On Monday against UC Santa Barbara, he got five outs, four by strikeout. Tonight, he retired seven in a row with three strikeouts. Â
Â
Connor Blough reached base twice on a pair of walks to extend his on-base streak to seven games. Â
Â
Diego Baqueiro notched one of the two Lion hits on the evening to add on to the torrid start to conference play. Â
Â
The Lions will look to take the series in the finale on Saturday, March 18 at 1:05 p.m. (PT). Â
