LOS ANGELES – The WCC has announced their Preseason Softball Honors for the 2023 season and four LMU players were chosen to the list.
 
Morgan DeBord, Jasmine Sofowora, Jenna Perez and Sydney Poole were all named to the All Preseason First Team.
 
DeBord has been named to the WCC Preseason Team two seasons in a row for LMU. Last season, DeBord hit .476 in 166 at bats and totaled 53 hits and 38 RBI. She also recorded a .956 fielding percentage with 83 putouts.
 
Last season Sofowora was named WCC Freshman of the Year after having a .372 batting average and 26 RBI. Sofowora also had the team-high slugging percentage of .663.
 
Both DeBord and Sofowora made the All-Conference Second Team.
 
Perez led the WCC in ERA, hits allowed per seven innings, and strikeouts which led her to win WCC Pitcher of the Year. 

Poole batted .363 in 168 at bats for LMU. Poole also totaled 61 hits and eight RBI. Last season Poole was was named to All-Conference First Team along with three other Lions.
 
LMU also tied with BYU for first place in the WCC Softball Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
The Lions were 37-17 overall and 13-2 in the conference last season and chinched the 2022 WCC Championship title for LMU.
 
LMU's 2023 season kicks off this Thursday against Stanford in the Mark Campbell Collegiate Invitational in Irvine, CA.
 
The Lions first home game is Feb. 10 against the California Golden Bears.
