LOS ANGELES – The LMU women's basketball team took a tough loss to the Santa Clara Broncos Thursday night in Gersten Pavilion
Alexis Mark finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and collecting 10 rebounds. In the first quarter, she scored the first points for LMU. The Lions first lead of the game came from a three-pointer by
Nicole Rodriguez putting the Lions up by two.
The lead didn't last long when the Broncos went on a six point run leading the Lions by six, 13-7. The quarter ended with a 10-0 run by Santa Clara making the score, 23-8.
In the second quarter the Lions out-shot the Broncos in the field. LMU shot 50% from the field compared to the Broncos 27.8%. Both
Ariel Johnson and
Khari Clark led the Lions in point in the second quarter scoring four a piece. With 3:24 minutes left in the quarter, Clark made a layup that cut Santa Clara's lead down by two. Going into halftime, the Broncos would lead the Lions 17, 39-22.
In the third the Lions trailed by a large margin but were able to knocked down 16 points in the quarter. A big play came from
Noelle Yancy when she drained a three pointer at the buzzer with an assist from
Nicole Rodriguez.
The fourth quarter ended with the Broncos shooting 61% and eventually winning the game, 80-51.
The Lions last game of the conference play is this Saturday, Feb. 25, against the San Francisco Dons.
