PROVO, UT - The Lions fall to the BYU Cougars Saturday afternoon, 42-67.
 
LMU opened up the game with a made jumper by Nicole Rodriguez, but the Lions would struggle offensively for the next eight minutes. The Cougars scored the following 10 points, and the Lions wouldn't score again until the last minute of the game. BYU led, 3-12.
 
In the beginning of the second quarter the Lions were able to come within five points of the Cougars thank to two back-to-back baskets from Alexis Mark and Khari Clark. With 4:22 left in the quarter, BYU would gain momentum gaining 10 straight points extending their lead by 18, 12-30. The Cougars went on another streak at the under two-minute mark scoring another seven points. LMU trailed BYU, 13-37, going into halftime.
 
Coming out into the second half BYU opened the quarter with a three pointer, but Clark responded with two made jump shots for LMU. Both the Lions and Cougars were 42 percent from the field in the third. Even though LMU was down by 30 with 1:19 remaining in the quarter, they never gave up. With time winding down, Se'Quoia Allmond nailed a three, at the buzzer, for the Lions. BYU still led LMU, 27-54, at the end of the quarter.
 
Despite being down by 27, the Lions stayed perseverant in the fourth. LMU outscored BYU by two totaling for 15 points in the quarter compared to the Cougars 13. BYU would eventually win the game and give LMU their last conference road trip lost, 42-67. 
 
Clark led the Lions with 11 points while Amaya Oliver led with nine rebounds.
 
The Lions next game will be Feb. 18 against the Pepperdine Waves.
