SAN DIEGO – The LMU men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw at the University of San Diego on Wednesday night at Torero Stadium in San Diego, Calif. Â
Â
The Lions and Toreros played to a first half draw after neither team could break through. Â
Â
The best chance of the half came off the foot of Steven Anderson. Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi drove a long ball over the back of the defense to an in-stride Anderson. Anderson took three dribbles and fired a low shot into the arms of the Toreros goalkeeper. Â
Â
Anthony Wilson also registered a shot on target in the first half after some nice build up play with Ryan Kingsford. Kingsford used a little back-heel flick to play Wilson through on goal, but Wilson's shot was right at the keeper. Â
Â
After the half, it was the Pomponi show as he recorded five saves. The senior from Eugene, Ore. Was at his best as he pushed a headed effort onto the crossbar in the 47th minute. The header was driven into the ground and bounding for the bottom corner before a strong palm pushed it up and onto the bar and out of play for a corner. Â
Â
Pomponi recorded a pair of saves on dangerous corners in the second half as well. In the 54th minute, a right-footed volley was caught by the keeper to keep the Toreros off the board. Â
Â
He was at it again in the 70th minute when a venomous effort from the left side of the box was palmed away. Â
Â
After all was said and done, Pomponi had his fifth clean sheet of the season.Â

The Lions host Portland on Saturday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. (PT) at Sullivan Field.Â
