LOS ANGELES – After a hot start at the beginning of the game and a trying come back in the third, the Lions fell short to the San Diego Toreros, 61-49.
Within the first two minutes of the game,
Alexis Mark drew a foul that started a 10-point streak for LMU. The Lions scored 20 points in the first quarter which would end up being their highest scoring quarter.
LMU opened the second quarter with a jumper by Mark, but the Toreros would follow with an 11-0 run and catching up to the Lions, 22-22. The Lions struggled in field goals this quarter shooting 30% compared to the Toreros 46.2%.
Going into the half, LMU and San Diego were tied, 27-27.
The third quarter was a close quarter for the Lions and Toreros. Both Teams went back and forth leading by no more than two points.
A three by
Cassandra Gordon, from
Khari Clark, put the Lions up three, 34-31. The score tied four times, but San Diego took the quarter, 44-41.
The Toreros went on a 14-point streak to start the fourth quarter and eventually won the game, 61-49.
Mark led the Lions with 14 points and eight rebounds. Clark added 10 points and seven rebounds to the Lions final stats. Both Mark and Clark lead the team in defensive stops with seven each.
The Lions next game will be Jan. 21 against Pepperdine in Malibu, CA.
