LOS ANGELES – LMU women's basketball team fell short to a sharp shooting BYU Cougars team, 46-63 Thursday night.
It was a slow start for the Lions scoring their first basketball at the 6:52 mark, by
Ariel Johnson, but being scoreless for the remainder of the quarter.
In the second quarter BYU shot 50% from the field going on a 7-0 run at the beginning of the quarter. The Lions were able to add nine points to their score thanks to
Cassandra Gordon,
Khari Clark,
Aspyn Adams and Johnson.
Going into halftime the Lions trailed the Cougars, 38-11.
The Lions came out with more energy starting the second half. At 5:20,
Destiny Samuel knocked down a three pointer that sparked three back-to-back three pointers for the Lions. LMU played with a lot of hustle in the third quarter, but still trailed by 30, 55-25.
Even though LMU was down the whole game, the fourth quarter was the best quarter for the Lions. The Lions scored 21 points in the fourth with
Alexis Mark collecting 14 of those points.
Mark finished the game with an active stat line. Mark led the team in points (17), rebounds (8), assists (4) and steals (5).
