Swim Competition Schedule Announced

LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's swim team and head coach Bonnie Adair are pleased to announce the 2022-23 competition schedule.

The first contest will be the PCSC Pentathlon, held on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Long Beach, Calif.

"We are very excited to launch the 2022-23 season with the PCSC Pentathlon on Saturday allowing our eight newcomers to 'suit up' (literally) in LMU gear for the first time. This is a fun early season event that challenges our swimmers to race in several events they don't usually compete in and 'stretch' themselves a bit," said coach Adair.

The Lions then have five more meets before the semester break. The Rodionoff Invitational will be held in Malibu, Calif. On Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. They will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. Two weeks later for a four-way meet hosted by Grand Canyon University on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22.

On Saturday, Oct. 29 the Lions will host San Diego in a dual meet at the Burns Aquatic Center. That meet will begin at 11 a.m. (PT).

They will travel to Malibu, Calif. once again on Friday, Nov. 4 to face off against Pepperdine in a dual meet before wrapping up the semester at the La Verne Winter Invitational. That meet will be held from Friday, November 18 to Sunday, Nov. 20 at East Los Angeles College in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Lions will race in four meets after the calendar turns to 2023.

First up, a trip to Riverside, Calif. on January 7 to compete in a meet hosted by California Baptist. Incarnate Word and San Diego will also be competing.

The West Coast Conference Cup follows closely thereafter. That will be a tri-meet hosted by Pepperdine in which the three WCC schools that have women's swimming compete against one another. That will be on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21.

The LMU Time Trials will be held on Jan. 28 at the Burns Aquatic Center and will be the senior recognition day for the Lions. That event will begin at 12 p.m.

The schedule culminates in the PCSC Championships from February 8 to Feb. 11 at East LA College.

NEWCOMERS

Coach Adair would like to introduce the newest iteration of Lion swim recruits as well.

"Our incoming class has a lot of diverse talent and we expect all eight newcomers to have an immediate impact on our program at both the top end and by providing additional depth that we've been lacking in the last couple of 'Covid years'. Our goal is to move back up into the top tier of the 14-team PCSC Conference and we have the talent in our young team to do just that." said coach Adair.

The freshman joining the team are Ashley Deabler from Orchard Park, NY, Grace Hull from Phoenix, Ariz., Lauren Kim from Irvine, Calif., Lia Murray from Omaha, Neb., Grace O'Connell from Manhattan Beach, Calif., Saanvi Sood from New Delhi, India, and Rei Sperry from Pittsburgh, Penn.

The Lions have one transfer, Maddie Nguyen, from Austin, Tex. She is transferring from University of North Texas.
