LAS VEGAS - The Loyola Marymount University Lions (13-23-1, 9-6 WCC) experienced another wild evening at Earl E. Wilson Stadium as both teams held leads, lost leads, and experienced big offensive innings. After a nine-run ninth won the game for the Lions in the series opener, UNLV took the second game, 21-11, to split the series on Tuesday.

The Lions jumped on top in the first inning for the second consecutive night.
Diego Baqueiro singled home a run and
Grant Weiss followed with a two-run homer to deep center to give LMU a 3-0 lead. The Rebels responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame on a bases clearing double to tie the game.

UNLV took their first lead with a home run and sac fly in the bottom of the second. LMU chipped away at the deficit with a run in the third and fourth to tie the score.
Robbie Ayers hit an 0-2 count for a single to bring in a run in the third and Baqueiro tied the game on an RBI single in the fourth.

Three homers in the bottom of the fourth accounted for five runs and pushed UNLV ahead. The Lions answered and matched with a five-run frame of their own in the top of the fifth. Back-to-back run-scoring single by
Ben Grunberg and
Cole Roberts set up an RBI double from
Devan Ornelas.
Benny Casillas reached on an error, which allowed Roberts to score. Baquerio added his third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to left.

The big innings continued as UNLV plated nine runs in the bottom half of the fifth.
Dylan Dennis hit a one-out home run in the top of the sixth, before the Rebels added two more to their total in the bottom of the sixth.

Neither team scored in the seventh inning before the game was called.
Roberts led the Lions with his first career four hit game.

LMU hosts San Francisco for three conference games beginning Friday at Page Stadium.
