LOS ANGELES- The No. 5 ranked Loyola Marymount University beach volleyball team (18-1) will compete in the UCLA East Meets West Invitational on Apr. 2-3 in Manhattan Beach.

The Lions are coming have been on fire all season, winning their last 11 matches after a tough loss to No. 6 ranked LSU, 3-2, at the LSU Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, La.

Looking ahead to this weekend tournament, this will be the toughest tournament for the Lions thus far as they will face No. 2 ranked TCU, No. 6 ranked LSU for the second time this season, No. 19 ranked FIU, and Utah in a two-day span.

The Lions first match will be held against No. 2 ranked TCU, currently 26-0, on Saturday, Apr.2 at 11:00 a.m., which will be their first top 3 ranked matches of the season. The last match between both teams was Mar. 13, 2019, with TCU getting the edge over the Lions, 3-2.

Following the TCU match, the Lions will get an opportunity to seek revenge in a rematch with No. 6 ranked LSU, a 19-4 team that beat the Lions, 3-2, on Mar. 6.

Headed into Sunday, the Lions will race the No. 19 ranked Florida International, a 15-1 team, that has never faced the Lions in program history.

The final match of the invitational will be against the Utah Utes, a 6-8 team, who the Lions faced on Mar. 20, 2021, defeating the Utes 5-0.

The entire tournament will be held at Manhattan Beach Pier with the first match of the invitational set to start at 9:00 a.m. PST.
