LOS ANGELES, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (1-7-1, 0-0 WCC) fell behind early, had rallies stall at different portions of the game, and dropped their series opener to the Kansas State Wildcats 11-0.
Starting right handed pitcher
Jimmy Galicia gave up a pair of runs in the visiting half of the second and settled down in the third and fourth before running into trouble in the fifth. Galicia had three strikeouts against two walks while surrendering eight hits on the night for LMU.
The Lions showed resilience by constantly battling in every at bat and loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but a strikeout ended the rally.
Trey Becker got the nod at shortstop and made the most of his time at the plate, leading the Lions by going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
The Lions had eight hits against Wildcat pitchers but couldn't get the timely knock to put runs on the board.
LMU and Kansas State return to Page Stadium for the second contest of the three-game set tomorrow at 6:00 p.m with righty
Matt McClure going against right handed pitcher Connor McCullough.
