LOS ANGELES, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (6-12-1, 3-0 WCC) stormed back from being down five runs in the bottom of the seventh, to taking the lead in the eighth and holding on for a 10-9 series sweeping win over Saint Mary's.
 
The Lions scored first but fell behind when Saint Mary's put three runs on the board in the second and a run in the third and fourth. 
 
Trailing 5-1, LMU plated another run courtesy of a Gaels error, one of four they'd commit on the day.
 
LMU gave up another pair of runs in the fifth but returned the favor in the home half by scoring one.
 
Heading into the bottom of the seventh and down by five the Lions put together a feverish rally that began with yet another error by the Gaels. In the frame the Lions got runs on passed balls, errors, an RBI single, and a bases loaded walk.
 
With the score tied in the bottom of the eighth LMU's home run leader Diego Baqueiro stepped up to the plate and belted a two-run shot giving the Lions a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
 
LMU now turns their attention towards UCLA on Tuesday night to close out the five game homestand. First pitch between the Lions and Bruins is slated for 1:00 p.m.
