LOS ANGELES, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (5-12-1, 2-0 WCC) got another stellar pitching performance from Matt McClure and home runs by Devan Ornelas and Dylan Dennis to muscle their way past Saint Mary's 6-4 on Saturday night. 
 
LMU turned the ball over to McClure and the sophomore produced. He put together 6.0 innings of seven hit baseball while striking out four Gaels batters against two walks. He was responsible for three of Saint Mary's four runs but was in command for most of the night. 
 
The Lions, trailing by two, got on the board in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Cole Roberts worked a seven pitch at bat for a walk bringing up Ornelas and he delivered a homer over the right field wall tying the game at two. 
 
The Gaels got a run in the top of the fourth but in the bottom of the sixth, LMU hit five straight singles for a pair of runs to go up by one. 
 
Saint Mary's tied the game at four in the top of the seventh then were retired in order in the visiting half of the eighth setting up the Lions in the bottom of the frame.
 
Dennis went to the plate with the go ahead run in scoring position and sent the first pitch he saw towering over the Blue Monster to push the Lions ahead by two heading into the top of the ninth.
 
Alex Burge pitched three solid innings, earning his first win of the season, and got the final out when his 3-2 offering was foul tipped into Jared Thomas' glove giving LMU the series victory. 
 
The Lions will go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
