Box Score IRVINE, CALIF. – The Loyola Marymount University softball team (0-0) took a tough loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 4-2, after fight back from a tight deficit.
 
The first inning started off rocky for the Lions, as they allowed 2 RBI's in the bottom of the inning to the give the Bulldogs their first two runs.
 
The Lions responded immediately in the second inning while down, 0-2, as Madalie Gomez scored off a Georgia Blair bunt.
 
The Lions' defense was phenomenal moving forward as they held the Bulldogs to just two runs throughout the first five innings. Meanwhile, Morgan DeBord was able to score off an error in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, 2-2.

The Bulldogs started to pull away in the 6^th inning, landing a two RBI scenario to increase the lead, 4-2.
 
The Lions had one last chance to bounce back in the seventh inning, but couldn't capitalize. They finished with three total hits, compared to the Bulldogs nine. Morgan DeBord and Andrea Gonzalez both went 1-2 at the plate.
 
Logan Caymol is now 0-1, as she pitched 4.0 innings, and allowed four hits and two runs. Savannah Hooks pitched 2.0 innings, allowing five hits, two runs, nailing one strikeout. 
 
The Lions will be back on the field at 3:45 p.m. to face University of Oklahoma Sooners in the Mark Campbell Invitational Tournament.
