LOS ANGELES – Three Lions finished in double digits in a much-needed win against the Utah State Aggies.
Ariel Johnson had 23 points for the Lions, including five rebounds and four steals. Eight of those points came in the third quarter when the Lions needed them.
"She showed up. She led her team. She played with pace. She understood how to run the floor as a floor general. She gave us everything she had," said Coach
Aarika Hughes.
Both the Aggies and Lions were tied at 36 in the third quarter until
Alexis Mark went baseline to baseline and ended with a beautiful layup. Mark finished with 21 points, six rebounds, three assist and four steals.
Cassandra Gordon had her best game of the season collecting 10 points and four rebounds.
"She came to play today," said Hughes. "She was able to give us big buckets and easy buckets."
Amaya Oliver was dominate on the boards. The Lions ended the game with 34 rebounds and 10 of them coming from Oliver.
LMU had a total of 48 points in the paint, 13 fast break layups and 22 opponent turnovers in Saturday's match.
"It was beautiful basketball," said Hughes.
The Lions next game is on Dec. 17 against the San Francisco Dons in San Francisco.
