LOS ANGELES - The LMU Women's Swim team took to the blocks at the Burns Recreation Center pool to battle a strong USD squad who topped the Lions in the contest.
The Lions were once again led by sprinter, Abby Shaw who raced to season best times in both the 50 (24.69) and 100 (54.97) freestyle events placing third in both events in close races with the USD sprinters. Freshman Lauren Kim also scored for the Lions in the 50-100 combo posting season best times of 25.24 and 55.86
In the 100 backstroke, Frances Dygean and Sarah Lu both achieved season best times as did a trio of freshmen in the 100 butterfly event that followed with Rei Sperry touching the wall first among the young Lions in 1:01.01, closely followed by Grace Hull in 1:01.25 and Ashley Deabler in 1:01.74. Sperry returned to the blocks less than 15 minutes later to place third in the 200 freestyle.
Other season best times were established in the 200 butterfly by Natalie Hogenboom (2:15.17) and Grace Hull (2:16.7) and in the 500 freestyle by Ryann Dorris who placed fourth with a season best time of 5:28.23.
The Lions return to competition in less than a week, traveling to Pepperdine next Friday for a dual meet against the Waves starting at 11:00am.
