Men's Cross Country

Lions Finish Fifth, Seventh in WCC Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. - The LMU cross-country teams competed in the West Coast Conference Championships in Portland, Ore. on Friday morning. 
 
The men's team finished fifth as a team and the women placed seventh. 
 
Adam Trafecanty was the top finisher for the Lions once again, with Roberto Ruelas and Miguel Barrera-Lopez following closely behind. 
 
Head coach Jason Zarb-Cousin was impressed with runners Cooper McCarthy and Christoph Wallner. "They both exceeded where they have been throughout the year," he said. 
 
The men collected 160 points. They collected points 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 in a fun twist. 
 
As for the women, Samantha Barajas finished tops. Lauren Wagner, Hayden Washington, Shelby Page and Marina Soares rounded out the scorers for the women's team.  
 
The women finished with 245 points, besting the Toreros by six. 
 
Both teams will compete in the NCAA West Regional on Friday, November 11 in Seattle, Wash. for opportunities to qualify for the National Championship Race in Stillwater, Okla.
