Lions Win Nail-Biter in OT

FULLERTON, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (2-0-1) got the game-winning goal in the first overtime session to remain undefeated, taking down Cal State Fullerton 2-1 on Friday night.

LMU's Creggton Charlton won the game in the 98th minute when he took a pass from Humoud Al-Ghanim and sent it past the Titans keeper for the Lions first come from behind victory of the season.

The Lions fell behind in the 14th minute of the first half when the Titans shot snuck past goalie Jacob Jackson. LMU didn't have to wait too long for the equalizer as CSUF committed a foul in the box giving the Lions a penalty kick opportunity. Noel Caliskan took the PK and drilled it past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

LMU outshot CSUF 20-9 and had the advantage in shots on goal 7-5, and corners kicks 7-4. Jackson made four saves on the night for his first win of the season.

LMU has a quick turnaround when they host UC Irvine on Sunday, September 5th with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m. at Sullivan Field.
