LOS ANGELES, CA – The No. 15 Loyola Marymount University Lions (3-0-1) played in their third straight overtime game, ending the extra session quickly when
Jack Sauls' header found the bottom right corner of the net, past the Anteaters keeper, giving the Lions a 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions remain undefeated after turning away UCI and have produced two shutouts in their first four games of the young season.
LMU and UCI were in a slugfest a majority of the match with each team getting shots that smacked off the post but could get nothing to go into the net until the extra session.
The Lions had the advantage in shots 15-13, shots on goal 7-3, and corners 6-1.
Jacob Jackson picked up his second win of the season and second clean sheet in his last three outings.
The Lions return to the pitch on Thursday, September 9th when Cal State Northridge pays a visit to Sullivan Field with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m.
