Meet Results
SANTA CLARITA, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions Men's and Women's Cross Country teams took the course together for the first time this year at The Master's University Invitational in Santa Clarita Saturday morning.
The women's team took the win in the Collegiate Invite 5k with 5 runners in the top 20, and 6 in the top 30 for a team score of 45 points.
Claire Graves led the way in 3rd place with a time of 17:31.7.
Lilly Schmidt and
Samantha Barajas followed, with times of 17:42.5 and 17:45.1 for 5th and 7th place respectively.
Avery Doan was the next Lion finisher with a time of 18:17.8, good for 12th place overall. Freshman
Anastasia Russell rounded out the scoring five with her 18:36.3 for 20th place, and
Shelby Page finished 30th in a new personal record time of 18:56.1.
In the Women's Collegiate Open 5k
Trinity Tingey finished fifth overall in 19:54.7.
The Lion men placed fourth in the team standings of the Men's Collegiate Invite 8k, led by
Ethan Frisone in 8th place with a time of 24:58.5, a new personal record.
Miguel Barrera-Lopez was the next Lion finisher in 25:20.2, good for 17th place.
Zach Arias placed 22nd in 25:45.7, followed by freshman
Daniel Vaca with a new personal best of 26:11.3 for 33rd place.
Tiras Pie also posted a new personal best time of 26:24.9 for 42nd overall and rounding out the Lions in the top 50 was
Max Smith at 26:28.3 for a 47th place finish.
Freshmen
William Luders and
Bennett Woolsey posted new personal bests of 27:22 and 27:28 placing 85th and 87th, respectively.
Next up for the Lion men is a trip to South Bend, Indiana for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 1st while the women will travel to Rocklin, California for the Sacramento State Invite on the same date.
