LOS ANGELES, CA – The No. 15 Loyola Marymount University Lions (7-0-1) pushed their win streak to seven, taking down Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1-0 on Monday night.
The Lions opened the 2021 campaign with a victory over Oral Roberts to begin the streak and have not looked back since. The only result the Lions haven't produced so far in 2021 was a 0-0 tie against No. 21 San Diego State.
LMU came into Monday night's matchup fresh off their double overtime victory against UC Santa Barbara but didn't need any extra sessions to get their seventh result of the season.
Noel Caliskan broke a nill-nill tie in the 56th minute when he sent a booming shot past the Mustangs keeper off the assist from defensive captain
Nick Dauchot.
Jacob Jackson, the reigning West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, didn't need anything else from the Lions as he was solid in net seeing nine shots while making three saves for his second consecutive clean sheet.
The Lions outshot the Mustangs 14-9 and held the advantage in corners 5-3.
Next up for LMU is a trip up north to Berkeley to face the California Golden Bears with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24th.
