LOS ANGELES – The non-conference portion of the LMU women's soccer season is officially closed as the Lions fell to UNLV, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.
LMU withstood seven first half shots and six corner kicks to keep the game scoreless at intermission. UNLV's best attempt was their opening shot that pinged off the crossbar before Kendyll Humphries gobbled it up. The LMU goalkeeper recorded three of her five saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The Rebels came out of the locker room and put their first goal on the board in the 49
th minute.
The score line remained the same until
Rene Wasi pushed forward for the equalizer in the 81
st minute. The goal is the first in Wasi's career as a Lion. Both Wasi and
Kailey Park recorded two shots on goal apiece.
Quick to respond, UNLV went back on top less than a minute later to secure the 2-1 win.
The Lions will now shift focus to the nine West Coast Conference games that remain on the team's schedule, beginning with hosting Pacific on Oct. 2 at Sullivan Field.
