Lions and Tigers Go 105 Minutes in Double Overtime Battle

LOS ANGELES – In a game that featured 32 combined shots, LMU and Pacific remained fairly even for the first 104 minutes of play. The Lions forced double overtime for the first time this season, but ultimately fell to the Tigers in the 104th minute.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes where the Lions were outshot, 7-5, it was a revitalized energy that came out after intermission. The Lions took nine shots in the second half, forcing the Pacific goalkeeper to make three of her five saves.

Kailey Park had a look on net in the 78th minute and Skylar Robledo had her best chance in the 84th minute, but both shot attempts were saved by Brenna Crump. Rene Wasi finished with a team-high four shots.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net, sending LMU to play in overtime for the first time this year. Kendyll Humphries made three saves in the first half and added an extra after halftime.

The LMU defense navigated around two shots in the first overtime session from the Tigers without letting anything past.

Amber McCorkle got the first shot off in the double overtime period, sending it over the cross bar in the 103rd minute.

Pacific finally countered with a cross into the box and a goal line scramble that found the ball in the back of the net, ending the game at 104:02.

The final tally on shots on goal were even, and saves, corner kicks, and fouls were all within one of each other.

The Lions will play a midweek game at San Francisco before hosting Pepperdine back on Sullivan Field in exactly a week.
