SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Late game heroics struck again for LMU men's soccer to remain unbeaten on the season. The Lions (6-0-1) scored in the 108
th minute to break a scoreless tie and defeat UC Santa Barbara (3-3-1), 1-0.
The two sides played a scores game through regulation and the first overtime period. The Gauchos outshot the Lions in the first half, 8-2, but LMU flipped the shot total to 7-4 in the second half.
Each team totaled one shot in the first overtime session, but it was the only shot of the second period that clinched the match.
Nick Dauchot received the pass from
Christian Wood and found the back of the net to end the match at the 107:14 mark.
The Lions survived seven corner kicks, with
Jacob Jackson making a game-high six saves.
LMU will return home on Monday night to host Cal Poly under the lights at Sullivan Field.
